Rastoni

For me, rastoni is the quiet freedom of having nowhere else to be.

The warmth of the sand, the gentle breath of the sea, a half-open book resting in the afternoon light. These are the moments I return to — when time seems to slow down and nothing more is needed.

I chose the titles of books one might bring to the beach — The Summer Book, The Waves, The Sea, The Sea. Not to illustrate their stories, but to suggest the presence of someone reading, pausing, and lifting their eyes toward the horizon. The book remains open, while the mind quietly wanders elsewhere.

Each watercolor holds one of these pauses. A small fragment of an Aegean day, somewhere between reading and dreaming, between memory and light.

Perhaps this is what I love most about summer — the simple pleasure of being there, without wishing to be anywhere else.
